About Honi
With 5 years of teaching and professional performance experience, I am a passionate violin tutor dedicated to helping students achieve both technical mastery and artistic expression. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners discovering foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the highlights of my career has been seeing students grow from hesitant beginners into confident performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and musicality.
My lessons focus on developing strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing creativity, musical interpretation, and emotional expression. I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of music.
Lessons are personalised to each student’s pace, learning style, and goals, creating a patient, supportive, and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and reach their full potential. Teaching violin allows me to inspire confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for music in every student I teach

I teach violin using a methodology grounded in motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to develop musicians who are confident, expressive, and technically skilled. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s abilities, learning style, and goals, combining structured technical practice, improvisation, creative exercises, and performance preparation.
Motivation is at the heart of my teaching. I work with students to set clear goals, track progress, and celebrate achievements, building self-confidence, perseverance, and a deep love for music. Lessons are designed to make practice enjoyable and rewarding, helping students understand the connection between effort and improvement.
Communication ensures a collaborative and interactive environment. Students can freely ask questions, share challenges, and explore ideas, fostering trust, engagement, and active learning.
Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Students engage in improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises, developing their personal artistic voice and a strong emotional connection to music. Integrity emphasises disciplined practice, responsible effort, and respect for learning, instilling habits that ensure long-term growth and sustainable success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm, and introductory piano, providing students with a holistic musical foundation. My methodology develops technical mastery, artistic expression, confidence, and a lifelong passion for music.
