About Adam
Inspired by Shakespeare`s words from Hamlet, "The play’s the thing", I believe strongly that a playful, fast-paced, yet systematic approach is the best way to help my students succeed, and leave a sustainable legacy of learning that gives them the best start at their next school.
I have taught English and history, and served as head of year, at an academically selective independent school in south-west London, focusing mainly on prep school classes at 11+ and 13+ level. This role included oversight and development of the entire academic and creative curriculum for children aged 8 to 13, and this is reflected in my holistic approach to tutoring. My teaching experience also extends up to A level, giving me a unique insight on the entire journey through senior school.
My specialism is providing tailored learning programmes to support students in preparation for entrance exams to selective independent and grammar schools – English reading and comprehension, essay-writing and creative writing, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, and building confidence for interviews.
Previous students are now (among others) flourishing at Hampton, Lady Eleanor Holles, King’s College School Wimbledon, Eton, Surbiton High School, Bedales, Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Lord Wandsworth College, St John’s Leatherhead.
