About Gráinne

I read English Language and Literature at New College, Oxford, graduating in 2016. Before moving to the UK for university I have lived in Ireland and the United Arab Emirates, and I recently completed my training as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

My passion for tutoring comes from belonging to a family of educators. This has instilled in me a strong belief in the potential of each student; seeing students tap into this potential is what makes this job so exciting for me. My approach is to encourage a playful, confident attitude to learning, seeking out what captures the imagination of the student, and equipping them with the tools they need to become independent thinkers.

I understand how stressful exams can be for students at any age, and I aim to promote healthy practices that will lessen their anxiety and improve confidence and creativity. Having lived abroad as a child, I am especially empathetic with the experience of pupils who are undergoing a change of scene, whether it be a new form class, school, curriculum, country or, now, online learning.

Perfect! Grainne is tutoring my daughter English
I would recommend Grainne without reservation. She has a wonderful rapport with my daughter. She has a talent for teaching concepts that are easily understood and her own grasp of English language and literature is superior. She has great initiative and has gone out of her way to find resources to help my daughters learning.

Perfect! Invaluable tutor
Grainne only taught my son a few lessons. She was reliable, punctual, friendly but most importantly nurturing and innovative. In a short space of time she was able to build my son's confidence and familiarise him with the examiners expectations by encouraging his creativity whilst providing him with effective structures to organise his writing and thoughts.

Can't recommend Grainne enough.
Subject : English
Outcome : Still awaiting results but my son is confident he's done well.

Her own passion for learning as well as teaching is what makes her a very empathetic tutor, and she has an incredible ability to make you enthusiastic about any subject. Her high standards and her meticulous attention to detail are always balanced with a patient and supportive attitude, which means even at the toughest points you always feel in safe hands.
