About Swedha
I have trained in Bharatanatyam for over 18 years and have performed extensively. I did my debut in 2016. Most recently, I created and performed my solo recital, which brought together classical dance, music, storytelling and Indian philosophy.
Alongside performing, I enjoy teaching and sharing Bharatanatyam with younger learners. My experience working with children through both dance and academic tutoring has taught me to be patient, adaptable and encouraging. I believe every student learns differently, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students can build confidence while developing strong foundations in Bharatanatyam.

My Bharatanatyam lessons combine strong classical foundations with an encouraging and engaging approach. Students will learn adavus, posture, rhythm, mudras, coordination, abhinaya and storytelling, while also understanding the meaning behind what they perform.
A typical lesson includes a warm-up, revision of previous material, step-by-step teaching of new techniques, guided practice, and individual feedback. I adapt lessons to each student’s age, experience, pace and goals, whether they are complete beginners or have prior Bharatanatyam training.
With over 18 years of Bharatanatyam training, I aim to make classical dance approachable and enjoyable while maintaining its technical and artistic foundations. My goal is for students to develop technique, confidence, musicality, expression and a genuine appreciation for Bharatanatyam.
