About Tara
With over three years of dedicated teaching experience, I am an enthusiastic pianist passionate about sharing my love for music with students of all ages and skill levels. My journey with the piano began at a young age, and over the years, I have immersed myself in both classical and jazz genres. This diverse musical background allows me to offer a well-rounded and enriching learning experience for my students.
My teaching philosophy is centered on creating an engaging and supportive environment that fosters growth and confidence. I believe that each student is unique, with their own learning style and pace. By tailoring lessons to meet individual needs and goals, I strive to make learning the piano both enjoyable and rewarding. Whether working on basic techniques with beginners or exploring complex compositions with advanced students, my aim is to inspire a deep appreciation for music and a commitment to continuous improvement.
In my lessons, I emphasize the importance of a balanced approach that incorporates both technical proficiency and creative expression. Classical training helps students develop discipline, precision, and an understanding of musical structure, while jazz instruction encourages improvisation, rhythmic diversity, and personal interpretation. This combination not only enhances technical skills but also allows students to explore their own musical interests and creativity.
Beyond the technical aspects of piano playing, I am dedicated to nurturing a lifelong passion for music in my students. I encourage regular performance opportunities, such as recitals and informal showcases, to build confidence and stage presence. Witnessing my students' progress and seeing their enthusiasm for music grow is incredibly rewarding. I am committed to supporting each student's musical journey, helping them achieve their full potential and enjoy the many benefits of learning to play the piano.

Our piano lessons are thoughtfully designed to cater to students of all levels, from beginners to advanced players, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. Each session begins with warm-up exercises and foundational techniques tailored to the student's current skill level, helping them build a solid technical base. For beginners, this includes learning basic scales, proper hand positioning, and simple melodies, while more advanced students work on complex pieces and refined techniques.
We focus on a dual approach that balances classical and jazz instruction. Classical lessons emphasize the importance of sight-reading, understanding musical notation, and interpreting compositions from different historical periods. Students explore works by renowned composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, developing a deep appreciation for the structure and emotional depth of classical music. This foundation in classical training not only enhances technical proficiency but also fosters discipline and concentration.
In parallel, our jazz lessons introduce students to the exciting world of improvisation, chord progressions, and rhythmic variations. By studying jazz standards and contemporary pieces, students learn to express their creativity and develop their unique musical voice. The ability to improvise and understand jazz theory enriches their overall musical experience, offering a balanced and versatile approach to piano playing.
Each lesson concludes with a review and practice plan, providing students with clear objectives to work on between sessions. We encourage regular performance opportunities, such as recitals and informal showcases, to build confidence and stage presence. Our goal is to create a supportive and inspiring environment where students not only improve their technical skills but also develop a lifelong love for music. Through personalized instruction and a diverse repertoire, we aim to help each student achieve their full musical potential.
