About Jenna
Hi, I'm Jenna, a second-year Molecular Bioengineering student at Imperial College London, I bring a strong academic background and a deep passion for problem-solving to my tutoring. With 4 A*s in A-levels (Maths, Further Maths, Biology, and Chemistry) and an A in a coding-based EPQ, I am well-equipped to guide students through challenging subjects. My journey began in South Africa, where my love for nature and curiosity about the world around me were first sparked. This diverse background gives me a unique perspective in teaching, allowing me to explain complex concepts in engaging and relatable ways.
I have two years of experience tutoring maths and sciences, during which I’ve developed a keen understanding of the importance of building a positive and supportive learning environment. I believe that understanding in these subjects involves not just the material but also gaining the confidence to tackle problems independently. My tutoring approach focuses on patience, understanding, and tailoring my methods to each student’s unique way of thinking.
By considering students' exam boards and specifications, I ensure that lessons are focused and relevant to their academic goals. My aim is to inspire confidence in my students, helping them not only grasp challenging topics but also approach their studies with enthusiasm and self-assurance.

In my tutoring sessions, I adopt a personalised approach to ensure each student reaches their academic objectives. I start by assessing the student's current understanding and identifying areas that need improvement. This guides the customisation of each lesson, ensuring we focus on the most pertinent topics. Preparation involves a thorough review of the student's exam board specifications and any materials they have provided, allowing our sessions to align with their academic requirements.
Each lesson begins with a brief recap of previous content to reinforce retention. I introduce new concepts using clear explanations and relatable examples. A significant component of my teaching involves integrating relevant practice questions, tailored to the student's curriculum and difficulty level. These questions not only reinforce learning but also familiarise students with the types of problems they will encounter in exams. To facilitate active engagement, I encourage students to solve these practice questions during sessions, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Creating a supportive and positive learning environment is key. I aim to ensure students feel comfortable asking questions and understand that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning journey. By fostering this atmosphere, I aim to ignite a genuine interest in the subject matter, empowering students to take ownership of their learning and achieve their full potential.
