About Anamika
Hi, I'm Anamika!
I'm a graduate of IIT Madras, where I completed an Integrated Master's in Development Studies (it is a mix of everything! :D).
What draws me to teaching is simple: I remember how much it meant to have mentors who made difficult subjects feel approachable, and who believed in my potential even before I did. I want to be that person for my students — someone who not only helps you understand your syllabus, but also helps you build genuine confidence in these subjects. I have always believed that learning should be fun and not a chore :)

My Teaching Approach
I believe learning works best when students understand the "why" behind a concept, not just the "what." Rather than relying purely on rote memorization, I focus on building conceptual clarity first, then connecting it to examples, current events, and exam patterns. For History and Economics especially, I like using timelines, case studies, and simple real-life analogies to help abstract ideas feel concrete. For English, I emphasize both strong fundamentals (grammar, vocabulary, comprehension) and the confidence to express ideas clearly in writing and speech.
I also pay close attention to each student's individual learning style — some students grasp things faster through visual aids and diagrams, others through discussion and debate, and others through structured notes and practice questions. I adapt my methods accordingly rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Typical Class Structure
A typical session usually follows this rhythm:
A quick recap of the previous topic to reinforce retention, followed by introduction of the new concept with simple explanations and relevant examples. We then work through guided practice together, where I encourage students to attempt questions with my support before trying independently. Towards the end, we go through a short doubt-clearing segment, and I usually assign light, focused homework or practice questions to consolidate learning before the next class. For exam preparation, sessions shift toward solving previous years' papers, working on time management, and refining answer-writing techniques.
What Makes My Classes Different
A few things set my teaching apart. My research background means I bring in real-world context and current affairs into History and Economics lessons, helping students see these subjects as living, relevant fields rather than just textbook material. I'm also multilingual (fluent in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and English, with working knowledge of German, French, and Korean), which can be helpful for students who think more comfortably in a regional language and need concepts explained in a mix of languages. Having gone through the Indian school board system myself with strong results (state and national-level academic recognitions), I understand exactly what school exams expect and how to help students meet — and exceed — those expectations.
Who My Classes Are For
My classes are designed primarily for school students (middle and senior secondary level) studying English, Economics, and History, whether the goal is strengthening fundamentals, preparing for board exams, or simply building genuine interest and confidence in these subjects. I'm patient, encouraging, and committed to creating a classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
