My Approach as a Mathematics Teacher Teaching Techniques and Methods: I adopt a student-centered approach that emphasizes conceptual understanding and critical thinking. I use a combination of visual aids, real-life applications, problem-solving tasks, and digital tools. I also incorporate inquiry-based learning, where students are encouraged to explore patterns and derive conclusions on their own, fostering deeper comprehension and independent thinking. Usual Structure of a Class: Each class typically follows this structure: Warm-Up (5-10 mins): A short problem or review to activate prior knowledge. Introduction (10-15 mins): Brief explanation or exploration of the day’s topic, often using a real-world context or question. Main Activity (20-30 mins): Hands-on problem-solving in pairs or small groups, guided practice, or interactive exercises. Discussion (10 mins): Students present their solutions or strategies, and we collectively analyze different approaches. Closure & Reflection (5 mins): A quick summary of the key concepts, and often a reflective question or mini-assessment to check understanding. Special Features as a Teacher: Strong emphasis on growth mindset—I encourage students to view mistakes as learning opportunities. Use of differentiated instruction to cater to diverse learning levels within the classroom. Frequent use of formative assessment to adjust instruction based on student needs. Integration of technology and interactive resources to make learning more engaging. Building real-life connections to show students the relevance and power of mathematics in the world around them. Target Audience: My classes are designed for intermediate students and advanced high school learners who aim to build a solid foundation in mathematics.
