About Dylan
Hi, I’m a passionate guitar tutor with over 12 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music Education with a focus on guitar. I believe music is one of the most powerful ways to express emotion, and I love helping students connect with their instrument on a deeper level. My lessons are designed to build strong technical skills while encouraging creative exploration. From basic chords to advanced fretboard fluency, I guide students step-by-step through structured, clear instruction. I place a strong emphasis on music theory, ensuring students not only play but truly understand what they’re doing. This gives them the tools to create, improvise, and grow confidently. I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals and interests, whether it’s songwriting, soloing, or just jamming with friends. I also teach how to express feeling through tone, phrasing, and dynamics. It’s not just about playing notes—it’s about telling a story. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced player wanting to unlock new skills, I’m here to support your growth. My guitar teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation while nurturing each student’s unique musical voice. I start with the basics of chords, strumming, and finger placement, ensuring comfort and proper technique. Rhythm is at the heart of every lesson. We work on groove development and tempo control using clapping exercises, metronome drills, and strumming patterns that match real-world songs.
I guide students through various musical styles—blues, funk, folk, and more—helping them adapt their playing to each genre. We explore scales and riffs that bring character to each style. I include ear training and timing practice to sharpen listening skills and musical instinct. For students who love singing along while playing, I offer clear methods to balance chord changes and vocal rhythm. This is especially helpful for learners aiming to lead music in casual or group settings.
Lessons are fun, encouraging, and practical. I make sure students can play songs they love early on, keeping motivation high. I focus on clean transitions, smooth rhythm, and expressive dynamics. Whether you’re just starting or want to improve your groove and confidence, I’m here to support your musical journey. I also guide students in becoming comfortable performers—especially those playing in social or spiritual settings.
