About Ali
I am an International A Level student with a genuine passion for mathematics. I am currently studying Mathematics and Further Mathematics and am predicted A* in both. I recently achieved a grade 9 in IGCSE Mathematics, so I have very up-to-date experience of the syllabus, exam style, and what it takes to score top marks. My goal is to study Mathematics at university and eventually pursue a career where I can use high-level math every day. Because I’m going through the same system myself, I understand the challenges students face: tricky exam wording, time pressure, and the jump in difficulty from IGCSE to A Level. This helps me explain ideas in a way that feels clear, relatable, and efficient, rather than just repeating the textbook. As a tutor, I bring this experience into every lesson. I focus on building strong foundations, then move on to exam-style questions and problem-solving skills, always aiming to boost confidence as well as grades. I enjoy helping students see that math can be logical and even enjoyable once it “clicks”, and I’m committed to supporting them all the way to their target grade.

Each lesson is fully personalized to the student. I build on their strengths and target their weaknesses using active recall and spaced repetition, so that by exam time they’re confident, well-prepared, and ready to perform at their best. My approach is very exam-focused: we break topics into clear, manageable chunks, then drill past-paper style questions until the methods feel automatic. I model how to think out loud, annotate solutions, and spot traps examiners love to use. During lessons I ask a lot of short, targeted questions so students are actively thinking, not just watching me work. Between lessons, I set focused practice with feedback, and we regularly review mistakes to turn them into strengths.
