About Carly
I am a native English speaker since birth. I have been a passionate and avid reader for my entire life. I enjoy learning vocabulary, the history of words and language, and random grammar in my spare time. I took Advanced Placement English/Reading/Writing courses all throughout my school years. Poetry, journaling, and creative writing are some of my biggest passions day to day. And one of my favorite things is helping a "difficult" or "unteachable" student find their own confidence and passion for learning, ANYONE can learn ANYTHING so long as there is patience, understanding, and the desire to succeed. I have experience working with dyslexic/ADHD kids and "late bloomers".

I try to bring my passion and fascination with the English language to every student I teach. Reading, grammar, writing, and the history of the language can be so much fun and endlessly interesting. Being able to understand the world around you and present your thoughts in a way that the world can understand is so important! Learning should never feel like a miserable chore, if it does, you're doing something wrong! It may not always be easy, but it should often be fun and it should always feel valuable and worth learning, because it is! I take my time to understand where each student is at, where they want to be, and how we can get there together, focusing on how they learn and understand. I don't believe one standard lesson plan works best for every student, everyone learns differently, but EVERYONE CAN LEARN with the right teacher and tools.
