About Ellie

I am an Honours Undergraduate Student studying a Bachelor's degree for Humanities at The University of Queensland. I have a strong passion for the arts, focusing specifically on classical literature and history, I have taken a school course in journalism through INQueensland, where I was given the ability to publish my own article. With my diverse two years of tutoring English, I have been able to teach multiple students, focusing on their strengths to build on their weaknesses, whether it be going through the primary basics like spelling, writing, grammar, and reading or expanding further into creative, analytical, persuasive, and speech writing through the junior years of High School. I have experience in several leadership positions, having been a prefect at school and performed speeches across the Northern Queensland Collegiate public-school cohort. With my experience, I can help to offer tips and tricks to get over the stage fright of public speaking.

About the lesson

I make an environment where the student can feel comfortable in challenging themselves, without pressure. I'm a tutor who is able to understand students struggles and form a learning scaffold that best fits the issues they are facing. My lessons are formatted depending on the age of my students as I work with students K-9 focusing on core subjects like mathematics, English, and science. With younger students, to create a positive response to tutoring, a rewarding system may be created e.g., playing 'I spy' or 'Simon Says'. The typical length of my lessons is from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, but other times can be arranged. I have worked as a local tutor for two years, but I am looking to expand my experience with new students.

I guide students through any problems they may deem difficult within a judgement free environment and can provide a flexible space to learn and improve their literary skills! I firmly believe that practice does make perfect and am extremely patient with students that may suffer from anxiety about school criterion.

Together with the student, we will battle any worries they may have with English so they can be the best reader and writer possible!
