About Flora
A bit about me:
• I'm a 3rd year honour roll university student at the Schulich School of Business, York University
• I was elected for English award (nominated by my teachers) at grade 12 high school graduation
• I have 5 years of experience teaching children and delivering Literacy, Math, and Science programs
• I have 3 years experience working one-on-one with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD
• I work with children in the age ranges of 6-14 years old

Hi there! My name is Flora, and I specialize one-on-one tutoring in English reading, writing, and grammar for children with a spectrum of learning disabilities.
My approach is to create an IEP (Individual Education Plan) for each student―tailored to their personal strengths, needs, and areas for improvement.
Subjects we may cover include:
• grammar & phonics
• vocabulary
• reading & writing
• conversational fluency & presentation skills
I use a combination of traditional resources (i.e. books, textbooks) and non-traditional media resources. Examples include:
• reading science news articles for a kid that loves animals
• writing and publishing an online dinosaur encyclopedia for a kid that loves dinosaurs
• reading/writing music video lyrics for a kid that loves music
All materials I use will be provided/included. Weekly homework is assigned (unless parents choose to opt out). School homework help is also available if needed!

Details
The initial assessment is 45 minutes and is free of charge. It is conducted virtually via Zoom.
The assessment comprises of a chat with the student, for the purposes of:
a) getting to know the student on a personal level
b) evaluating the student's academic standing, competencies, and overall reading/writing level.
