About Hai Ling
I am an experienced home cook with over 10 years of hands-on cooking experience. I started cooking at the age of 15 out of interest, and even sold homemade food to my classmates during my school years. While studying in the UK, I cooked daily for myself and regularly hosted potluck meals with friends as we missed Malaysian food. Over the years, I have cooked for family and friends, hosted home dinners, and currently prepare meals for up to 13 people on a weekly basis, rotating different dishes. I specialize in Asian cuisines (Chinese, Thai, Korean, Japanese) as well as Western cooking, particularly Italian. As a tutor, I focus on practical, beginner-friendly home cooking, with clear guidance to help students cook confidently and independently. I understand the struggle of not being able to recreate the exact same flavors (or just how the dish looks) by following certain recipes online, hence I'm here to help!

Teaching Approach & Methodology I will be cooking together with you while providing tips/ guidance on the cooking process itself. My lessons are designed for beginners and home cooks who want to learn efficiently and build confidence in the kitchen. I teach using a clear, step-by-step approach. I also share practical tips such as ingredient substitutions, flavor balancing, and common mistakes to avoid, so students can recreate the dish independently at home. Lesson Duration Lessons will last between 1–2 hours, depending on the dish and learning pace. Experience & Background I have 10+ years of home cooking experience, regularly cooking for family and friends. I have hosted home dinners and currently cook for up to 13 people weekly, rotating different dishes. My experience includes Asian cuisine (Chinese, Thai, Korean, Japanese) and Western cooking, especially Italian. Who My Lessons Are For Suitable for anyone aged 13+, from absolute beginners to home cooks who want to recreate their favorite dishes and improve their cooking skills in a practical, approachable way.
