About Sofie
I am an aspiring History teacher who is very passionate about making English and History accessible to everyone. I prioritize making you comfortable and establishing confidence in your own work. History can be complex and hard to relate to sometimes, which is why I want to ensure a modern and sympathetic approach to events of the past. I have struggled to find confidence in my writing, often feeling like it just did not come naturally to me. I see writing for any subject as a muscle that just needs training and individual focus in order to thrive. I look forward to growing the muscles of historical/literary analysis and writing.

I always start with what the student already knows. I find it is important to recognize the work that has already been put in to build confidence and comfort. Then, I would ask what are the subjects/themes that are most challenging for them. By doing so, I can work to integrate the pre-existing knowledge into the areas that are more difficult to grasp. For tutoring in History, I like to involve modern events and theories that the student might be more personally familiar with, in order to better understand the past.
Open to working on English and/or History classes for all grade levels. My specialties include historical writing, social history, literary analysis, etc. I have experience in most Historical periods from the Medieval to the Modern.
