About Poppy
My name is Poppy and I am in my first year at the University of Edinburgh, studying International Relations and History of Art. I have had experience with children from a young age; I was a summer camp counselor for three years and taught weekly Jewish studies sessions at my synagogue for five years. These two jobs have taught me the importance of setting goals with a realistic plan for achievement. I have carried this into my teaching, through creating comprehensive lesson plans and making sure that I understand the key content inside-and-out, enabling the student to emerge from lessons with a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

My teaching methodology begins with asking students what they must learn (e.g. a syllabus) but also what they want to learn. This has worked for me in the past, as it ensures that the students are able to have a personal investment in what they are learning, not just what their teachers have asked of them. I have had the most success doing this when I tie in relevant examples and current affairs to what the student is learning.
