About Charlotte
Hello! My name is Charlotte, I'm eighteen years old, and I'm currently an undergraduate student at Royal Holloway, University of London, studying History and Philosophy. I previously attended Bassaleg School in South Wales, where I achieved four A* grades and eight A grades at GCSE, as well as an A* grade and two A grades at A-Level.
I want to become a tutor because I have always genuinely enjoyed teaching, in any way. I have coached gymnastics classes for children aged 3-16 for the past five years, and after having to leave that job in September as I moved away for university, I would love another opportunity to help teach and guide students. This experience with sports coaching has helped me develop skills to become a fun, engaging, and enthusiastic teacher, as well as someone who is able to make accommodations for those who need it with ease.
As for academic tutoring, I am a relatively new tutor, having previously tutored English, or more specifically, reading. I spent a year tutoring a few select students who had just begun or were about to begin secondary school, using 1 to 1 sessions to help them build confidence in their reading skills. I really enjoyed seeing their confidence grow, and seeing them easily read through texts that they struggled with immensely just a few months prior was extremely rewarding. I have decided to teach Religious Studies instead of English this time as it is more relevant to my current interests and current studies, as well as my potential future aspirations. I truly love Religious Studies and I really hope to make my students feel the same passion towards the subject.

I will be tutoring Religious Studies for GCSE and/or A Level students. I am also open to tutoring those in lower years of secondary school, or primary school students! A lot of Religious Studies curriculums now also include Philosophy and Ethics, and I can definitely also tutor those subjects if needed!
My main aim as a tutor is to make the student feel as included as possible in how they learn, as everybody learns differently, and it is important to me that I discover how each student learns so I can make the sessions as personalised and productive as possible. On the first session I aim to help the student figure out how they learn, and highlight which topics they feel they need the most help with. This way, I can develop lesson plans that specifically target their needs. In each session we will recap what we learnt in the session prior, we will go over anything they have struggled with in school that week, and we will focus on a specific goal that we set together.
