About Idriis
Hello! I’m Idriis, a year 13 student currently studying at the Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge, having completed my GCSEs at Chesterton Community College. I achieved all 9s and 8s at GCSE (nine 9s and two 8s), and currently hold predicted grades of A*A*A*AA in my A-levels (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Economics, and the EPQ), I have a strong grasp of the STEM curriculum at GCSE and specific exam strategies. I am currently applying to read Economics at the University of Cambridge (alongside other G5 universities), and am currently preparing for the TMUA, keeping my maths and problem-solving skills sharp!
Having completed the GCSE qualification extremely recently is a major point of mine. I know the specifications the current students are working with very well and hope to transfer that knowledge to them.
Beyond academics, I believe a well-rounded lifestyle to be essential to holistic success:
I play competitive rugby and previously represented the Northampton Saints Academy, this has taught me immense discipline, teamwork, goal-setting skills, and adaptation to different systems. These are all skills that I bring to my tutoring sessions and have defined me as a learner.
I play the piano and spent several years performing in my school's samba band. This musical experience has added a layer of creative perspective for problem solving.
In my free time I love attending live music concerts, going to festivals, and seeing around museums.
I take pride in being an approachable, patient, and organised mentor. My goals as a tutor are not only to help students master the hardest concepts and refine their exam techniques, but also to build their confidence and independence as a learner, so they can achieve their full academic potential.

My teaching approach:
Having achieved straight top grades at GCSEs (eight 9s, two 8s, and an A), and holding A* predicted A-levels, I have firsthand experience with the current specification and mark schemes. I don’t just teach the content, I teach how to get the highest marks. I know what examiners are looking for in answers, the common traps students might fall into, and how to structure revision and learning to secure grade 9s.
Every student is different, so I focus heavily on making each session specific to the student's personal goals, weak areas, and learning style. I will run targeted diagnostics to identify the prevalent gaps, then prepare tailored worked examples and past paper questions specifically for the student and their exam board. I will help to break down concepts and the precise phrasing needed to satisfy strict exam mark schemes.
Experience and background
I am currently a year 13 student at Hills Road Sixth Form College (predicted A*A*A*AA in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Economics, and the EPQ).
My tutoring experience includes being a mentor in sixth form, officially tutoring Lower Sixth students at Hills Road in Economics, Chemistry, and Maths.
I also have worked 1-on-1 with secondary school students to boost exam performance.
I have extensive experience working with children, having organised sports days for local primary schools at my secondary school. I also volunteered for my primary school's after school club.
Lesson details
I am looking to tutor GCSE and KS3 students aiming to master concepts and push for the top grades in Chemistry, Maths, and GCSE Further/Add Maths. I am also open to tutoring primary school students who may want to extend the extent of their mathematical ability and understanding.
The lessons will be a standard 1-hour session, with the option for longer or shorter sessions as is wanted, and will consist of targeted concept reviews, guided exam practice, and specific revision plans. These can be either in person for Cambridge locals or online.
