About Monica
Highly experienced working teacher/examiner, 100% grades A*-C for GCE and grades 4-9 for GCSE, with 80% of tutees consistently reaching the upper bands. All levels catered for. DBS checked. As I am qualified and experienced to teach four subjects: English literature and language, Drama/Theatre Studies, French and German, up to and including A level, I am in a position to offer students on alternate weeks tutoring in two or three subjects if required. I have been teaching at secondary and university level for 25 years, my secondary school experience ranges from state schools to prestigious independent. I am an Edexcel GCE examiner, have been widely published in modern foreign language education, exile and theatre studies and hold upper threshold status. I have lived and worked in Switzerland and France; I completed part of my first degree at Toulouse University and in Paris trained as a Berlitz EFL teacher. Although I am trained to teach at secondary level in the UK, in recent years I have had great success preparing students for 11 and 13 plus English exams, one such student won the English scholarship to attend Harrow public school.

Friendly, professional and dedicated. I enjoy teaching all ages and abilities and prefer to nurture long working relationships with tutees and their parents over a year or more. The majority of my current tutees are siblings whose families I have known for a number of years. Lessons via Zoom or in person are created to meet the exact requirements of the examining board the student is following and or their precise learning needs. Students with special needs and or English not as a first language, can also be catered for. Homework is given and is expected to be completed. I teach weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. In the first instance parents should email me to arrange a time to discuss how I can help their child. Testimonials, qualifications, DBS and proof of upper threshold status are available on request.

Monica taught my daughter for the past three years in English and German. From not wanting to study my daughter looked forward to her weekly lessons on line and then in person. The lessons were a true support during Covid and enabled my daughter to achieve very high grades in both subjects. Thank you Monica!
Monica is an excellent teacher extremely inspiring and motivating. She not only makes the subject she teaches interesting she also inspires her students to do well. She is kind and flexible. Both my children got grades 8 and 9 in English and French. In only 3 months my son's French grade improved from a 5 to an 8.
Monica comes highly recommended. All three of my children have had Monica help with with German, French and English. The eldest two have received high grades in their GCSEs and A levels. Monica is an inspiring teacher that is dedicated to your child receiving the best results possible.. She is very experienced, highly organised and devoted to your child’s educational needs. If there are any issues, she is in constant communication to resolve them. I would highly recommend her as she has taught my children for over 6 years.
Monica was a long term supply colleague of mine in the Modern Languages Department of The John Lyon School, Harrow. Monica taught French to GSCE level as well as French and German to A Level. Monica was an extremely diligent colleague, her lessons were carefully prepared and interesting. Monica was an excellent colleague.
