About Thomas

Hello! I’m Thomas, a passionate and highly experienced mathematics educator with over 14 years of teaching experience, including more than eight years in international education.

I hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, as well as an Honors degree in Teacher Education. Throughout my career, I’ve taught mathematics across different grade levels and curricula, including advanced mathematics and AP Calculus.

For me, teaching mathematics is more than a profession; it’s about changing how students perceive their own abilities. I’ve seen students go from believing they’re simply “not good at maths” to confidently solving problems they once thought were impossible. Those transformations are what make teaching so rewarding.

I believe a great mathematics teacher doesn’t simply explain how to solve a problem but helps students understand why the mathematics works. My approach combines patience, conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving.

Having worked with students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, I understand the importance of adapting my teaching to different learning styles, abilities, and goals.

Whether you’re struggling to keep up, preparing for important examinations, or aiming for academic excellence, I’m committed to helping you achieve your potential.

My greatest satisfaction comes not from students getting the right answers, but from watching them develop the confidence to find those answers independently.

I look forward to being part of your mathematical journey!

My teaching philosophy is simple: every student can succeed in mathematics with the right guidance, encouragement, and approach.

With over 14 years of teaching experience, I understand that students learn differently. That’s why my lessons are personalized, engaging, and designed to build genuine mathematical understanding rather than simply memorizing formulas.

What you can expect from my lessons:

* Personalized Learning: I begin by identifying your strengths, learning gaps, and academic goals, then develop lessons tailored to your needs.
* Clear, Step-by-Step Explanations: I simplify challenging mathematical concepts using practical examples, visual representations, and real-world applications.
* Active Participation: My lessons encourage students to think critically, ask questions, explain their reasoning, and develop independent problem-solving skills.
* Exam Preparation: I provide targeted practice, past-paper questions, exam strategies, and constructive feedback to help students improve their performance.
* Confidence Building: I create a supportive environment where mistakes become learning opportunities and students feel comfortable tackling challenging problems.
* Progress Monitoring: Regular assessments and feedback help us measure improvement and adjust our learning strategies.

I teach mathematics across Grades 6–12, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, functions, precalculus, and calculus, with experience in international curricula and AP Calculus.

My ultimate goal is not just to help you pass your next mathematics exam, but to develop the confidence, understanding, and problem-solving skills that will serve you for years to come.

Whether you’re struggling with the basics, aiming for top grades, or preparing for an important examination, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward.

Let’s turn mathematical challenges into achievements!
