About Mark
I am passionate about mathematics and its many applications in real life. Contextual learning is my strength. I see mathematics as a large puzzle with many pieces which all fit together. It is problem-solving at its best.
I am also passionate about anything aviation-related. I earned my private pilot license in 2001 and have accumulated approximately 200 flying hours in a number of different aircraft types.

I have 15 years of experience of teaching mathematics (including algebra, trigonometry and calculus) up to Level 3 of the New Zealand NCEA curriculum.
In addition, I have 3 years’ experience of one-to-one mathematics tuition, bringing out the best in my students, inspiring them, and building their self-confidence. With 15 years of experience in the aerospace and IT industries prior to qualifying as a teacher, I use real-life examples as part of my teaching methodology. I prefer to have at least a one-hour weekly tutorial with each student, but I’m willing to be flexible.
I am also fluent in three languages (English, German and Portuguese) and tech savvy.
