About Oli

Hi, I’m Oli! I am a rising high school senior with a lifelong love for school, discovery, and academic challenge. Learning isn't just a requirement for me—it’s something I genuinely enjoy, and that enthusiasm is what I love to pass on to my students.

My ultimate goal is to become a physician, a path inspired by my fascination with science and my desire to help others. To prepare for the rigor of pre-med and medical school, I have fully immersed myself in high-level coursework. Throughout my high school career, I have taken exclusively Honors-level courses and above. During my junior and senior years, I transitioned entirely to a college-level curriculum, taking only Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Dual Enrollment classes.

Because I am currently in the thick of balancing a demanding, advanced workload, I know exactly what it takes to study efficiently, manage time effectively, and succeed in high-stakes academic environments. As a tutor, my goal is to demystify these tough subjects, help students build up their confidence so they feel comfortable working on their own, and show my students that with the right mindset and support, they can master challenging material, too!

I am a rising high school senior who has firsthand experience with struggling in math and science, despite my passion for those subjects. I hope to help other students better understand mathematical concepts and embrace their own passion for math as well (or at least make it bearable for those who don't enjoy math that much).

Using strategies I have learned throughout my education or created myself, I will help students develop a full understanding of mathematical concepts, rather than just memorization, ensuring their proficiency in skills and helping them apply mathematics to real life. Focusing on a student's personal learning style, we will work together on problems and cover any desired topic until they are able to fully explain the topic to someone else.

Who the Lessons Are For?
I tutor students of all ages from kindergarten through high school. My subject expertise includes:

Mathematics: Arithmetic, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and Calculus.

Science: Chemistry.

Custom Subjects: Taking a class not listed here? I love a challenge! I am entirely open to learning new subjects alongside a student to help them tackle unique curriculum goals.

I have taken many AP classes and I am able to navigate College Board curriculum if a subject being covered is AP.

My Teaching Method & Techniques:
I believe that rote memorization only goes so far—true success comes from conceptual understanding. My approach is patient, adaptive, and highly interactive.

Resource-Rich Learning: I leverage top-tier online tools, interactive whiteboards, and visual aids to make abstract concepts tangible.

Active Problem-Solving: Instead of just watching me solve a problem, we work through them together. I emphasize the why behind each step, not just the how.

Adaptability: Every student learns differently. If a specific explanation isn't clicking, I pivot and find a new angle—whether that’s through a visual diagram, a real-world analogy, or a different step-by-step breakdown.

Supporting Neurodivergent Students
As a tutor with ADHD and OCD, I have a deep, personal understanding of how traditional teaching methods can sometimes fall short for neurodivergent minds. I don't view these diagnoses as barriers; instead, they give me a unique toolkit to connect with students who think outside the box.

Because of my own experiences, my lessons naturally incorporate:

Patience & Empathy: I know how frustrating it can be when a brain refuses to cooperate with a rigid task, and I create a completely safe, judgment-free space for students to learn at their own pace. I also know that routine and rigidness can sometimes be helpful, and I am able to adapt to those needs as well, setting a clear schedule with a student and/or parents

Tailored Focus Strategies: I utilize specific executive functioning hacks—like breaking massive problems into bite-sized, micro-steps, using clear visual checklists, and incorporating high-engagement tools—to keep ADHD brains stimulated and focused.

Clarity & Structure: My own experience with OCD means I appreciate clear, predictable structures. I provide well-organized lesson outlines and unambiguous explanations so students always know what to expect, reducing academic anxiety.
