About Myles
Hi! My name is Myles, but most people call me MJ. I’m a passionate, reliable, and experienced tutor who’s dedicated to helping students feel confident in their learning. Whether you need help understanding a tricky concept, organizing your thoughts for an essay, or simply building better study habits, I’m here to support you every step of the way. I’ve worked with students of all ages, from young kids just learning to read to high schoolers preparing for exams or refining their writing skills. As a tutor, my goal is to create a space where students feel confident, curious, and capable. My teaching method is grounded in patience, personalized support, and active engagement. Whether it's through breaking down complex topics into bite-sized, relatable steps or using creative analogies, I always aim to make learning feel less intimidating and more empowering.
Teaching Method & Techniques
I use a student-centered approach that blends explanation, guided practice, and reflection. I adapt to each student’s learning style—visual, auditory, or kinesthetic—and use a combination of:
Socratic questioning to encourage critical thinking
Scaffolding (gradually increasing difficulty)
Real-life examples or storytelling to make abstract ideas stick
Frequent check-ins to ensure understanding and reduce overwhelm
A Typical Lesson Plan
Check-in (5 minutes): See how the student is doing and recap previous material
Goal-setting (5 minutes): Define what we’ll tackle today and why it matters
Instruction (15-20 minutes): Introduce or review the topic with interactive examples
Practice (15 minutes): Work through problems or writing prompts together
