About Austin
I have a strong foundation in Algebra and Computer Science, with great interpersonal skills that help me break through to students. I've mostly tutored peers in the past, with curriculum from Algebra 1, to Calculus, to even Computer Science. I've always been successful at not only helping students with certain problems, but making sure they walk away with a stronger understanding of the concept.
Additionally, as a senior in high school, I know many tips and strategies of how to study and master tricky math concepts, since grade-school-taught math is still very fresh in my mind.

A typical day would go like this: my student has a difficult problem they don't understand, so I first walk them through the problem very slowly, breaking down each step clearly. Then I have them do a practice problem with my guidance, meaning they take the lead, but I show them patterns and important strategies at certain times in their thought process to help them build "math-muscle-memory". Finally, I have them show me they understand the problem by doing it with no guidance from me.
In my tutoring experience, I find that the greatest problem with students not understanding a concept is them losing focus when it's being explained to them. In my lessons, I prioritize my student's engagement, by creating a positive and fun environment for learning.
I'm great at teaching the fundamentals of math in unique ways, so my lessons are mainly for younger kids, but I can also tutor anything up to Calculus AB.
