About Stella
As someone who has talked to both students and teachers about ways to improve my club's tutoring services throughout the pandemic, I understand that different people have different needs. This understanding has let me help my students even if they are completely distinct. I've taught a student since she was in 2nd grade (now in 5th) the multiplication table, fractional parts, etc. to lead her into representing her school in its math team. I've taught a high school student in pre-calculus to take his F to a B. I aim to understand the student before I teach.

Though I've been tutoring academic subjects only for 4 years, my teaching experience extends beyond 1-on-1 lessons. I manage a peer-tutoring group with over 100 students and am a former junior instructor for a martial arts studio.
My experience has taught me that the best lessons are the ones that stay engaging and focus on the priorities of the student, not on specific chapters in a textbook. I hope to teach any of my students to instead think beyond the textbook, whether that be applying skills to a mock exam, or drawing out a problem to address its core.
That's why I take the first lesson to understand what the student needs, then take time to strengthen foundational skills through whiteboard lessons and practice tests, and finally offer tips and tricks to think smarter, not harder.
