About Elizabeth
I am an Algebra I teacher from South Dakota. I have a degree in Mathematics and have been teaching in a classroom for 2 years.
I LOVE working with adolescents and helping them understand math, especially since it can be a sore topic for many. I get that math is hard, and so I want to help every student know that they can do hard things - even Algebra
In addition to teaching math, I also enjoy music and love to bring it into the classroom when I can.
I'd love to get to work with you and help you build up some self-confidence and help you know that you really can do anything you put your mind to!

My Approach to Tutoring: Building Confidence Through Connection
My teaching philosophy is built around adaptability, understanding, and long-term retention. I recognize that math can be intimidating, so I focus on turning frustration into "aha!" moments by tailoring every session to the student's unique pace and learning style. Being bilingual in English and Spanish allows me to break down language barriers and explain complex mathematical concepts in whichever language the student feels most comfortable.
What Sets Me Apart
Empathy-Driven Teaching: I am highly understanding and adaptable. If a concept isn’t clicking, I pivot on the fly to find a new analogy or visual aid that works.
I don't just teach for the upcoming Friday quiz. My method emphasizes reviewing previous content at the start of every session to combat the "forgetting curve" and ensure the material sticks for final exams and future classes.
Who I Teach
Grade Levels: Middle School (Grades 6–8) through High School.
Subjects: General Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2.
My Sweet Spot: Algebra 1. This course is the foundational gateway to all higher-level math, and I love helping students master it before they fall behind.
