About Kate
I started tutoring when I was in university, and have kept tutoring even during teaching because I enjoy the one-on-one interaction with students.
I can teach science- chemistry, physics, biology and earth sciences- from year 6-12 but my best results are with students from year 8-10 or iGCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics since I have always taught these years alongside higher or lower years.
I am also a great choice of tutor for students doing higher level (A-level, O-level, IB, year 11 or year 12) chemistry or biology that need to fix foundations before moving on. I am good at detecting learning gaps and working on mending those areas before building bigger, deeper concepts.

I break large concepts into concrete steps that students can practice through repetition and drills.
I am particularly skilled at helping students remember biological terminology concepts and use language correctly in exams.
Rather than simply demonstrating, I ask my students to talk me through their thinking, so I can listen closely and give targeted feedback.

Cate tutored our daughter in IGCSE Chemistry and Biology for the past year, and her results steadily improved until she eventually received an A. Cate knows exactly what the mark schemes reward, and she teaches students how to think and answer like top candidates, not just memorise content. Her lessons are clear, well structured, and tailored to where our daughter actually needs help. We always know how things are going, thanks to her regular lesson summaries. Beyond the grades, our daughter is more confident and enjoys science . We recommend Cate without hesitation.
