I feel that by describing the way I want to tutor as dynamic, enthusiastic, personal etc., will be a waste of both of our times. I am here to give simple, logical and reasoned advice to help you in a methodological manner to achieve high grades in your law degree assignments. I have been helping undergraduate and postgraduate students with their legal assignments for 4 years now, and I have considerable experience in legal essay and problem question writing, evidenced by my LLB law graduation with a First-Class degree at the top 3% of my class at Lancaster University, as well as by my performance in my LLM at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where I achieved a Distinction.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I commenced tutoring students for law degrees, whether LLB Law (undergraduate) and LLM (postgraduate) following my graduation from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where I achieved a distinction. I have realised at that point, given also my First Class graduation for my LLB Law degree that I have understood the manner and procedure in which an individual has to study and tackle assignments and exams to excel at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. From very early on I noticed excellent results for my students, shifting low 2:2s into high 2:1s and even 1st class results. Assisting individuals in their studies is very rewarding, given that I have an input and influence in their future careers.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach all law modules, and my focus is on assisting individuals with their assignments (courseworks, presentations, etc.) and exams. My approach is personal and dynamic, resulting in excellent results for students, focusing on grades rather than general knowledge.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Although I grew up without a role model to guide me, I decided to be my own role model and excel at my studies and career for the benefit of my future self. As part of that journey, I wish to help others achieve what I have achieved.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Being a good tutor necessitates instilling logic into the teaching process, focusing on what actually matters, being the performance of the student in assignments and exams. My approach focuses more on achieving high grades and performing at assignments and exams, rather than general knowledge and lectures.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Although a good solid essay is a good solid essay, given the nature of law degrees and particularly of courseworks, especially essay questions, markers have a wide discretion to award whatever mark they choose, and there is little you can do to challenge that. During the second year of my LLB Law degree, I achieved a 68% on my EU law essay question coursework, when I expected around 80% given the time I have put in my essay. I received the usual vague feedback that is almost never helpful and I was quite frustrated, but I slowly accepted the fact that marking essays grants markers such a wide degree of discretion, that I should just accept it and move on. I ended up scoring 84% in the exams, resulting in achieving a high first class as an overall for that module. The message from this anecdote is to learn to move on when fighting is a waste of time.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The primary challenge faced is that students are usually unwilling to put in the hard work required to excel in an LLB Law or LLM degree. One of the benefits my style of tutoring offers is that in addition to the substantive support, I provide timelines and pressure students into being diligent with their work, assignments and revision. This of course is one of the things that explains my outstanding results.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I am passionate about the objectives of the law in general, and how the same facts can be both legal and illegal depending on the interpretation and who is arguing what.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

I am a Superprof because of my ability to get to the point in a logical manner, achieving results and having the capability of laser focusing on what matters, which is achieving as high a grade as possible.
