About Kenzie
My name is Kenzie and I am in my first year of university. I have been a strong student since I was little. I learned my reading and writing skills from my mother, who was an English and reading recovery teacher. I strive to help students in the way she did, using similar techniques to aid in reading comprehension and fluidity. I have had a strong passion for reading and writing for as long as I can remember, and I strive to spark that passion in my students as well. My tutoring approach is centered on the specific student and focused on improving reading confidence and comprehension. I tailor lessons to each learner’s needs and will teach different reading strategies.
A typical lesson would include guided reading, help with certain vocabulary, and practices to help comprehend the readings, like summarizing and questioning. I help students break down texts and build skills they will be able to use independently in the future.
I am very patient, I have clear expectations and I encourage my students to ask questions so I am able to support them and help them grow.
Lessons are suitable for students seeking help with reading skills in elementary and middle school (K-8). Will consider high school students on a case to case basis.
