About Samantha
I am a professional singer/songwriter and educator with a Masters in Educational Counselling. I have been performing as an artist and backup vocalist in Vancouver for over 14 years, from large festival stages such as the Festival of Light and the Dragon Boat Festival, to small coffee shops like Trees Organic Coffee on Granville. I have been creating and singing backing vocals in studios for the past 10 years, and have been writing songs for over 20. I have also been working with students who struggle with performance anxiety for the past 3 years.

Our lesson begins with a warm-up to improve vocal range, agility, tone, and ear training. Warm-ups are focused on skills we both agree will benefit your vocal goals. Vocal goals are co-created and based on genre-specific values that work for you and your unique voice.
Next, we dive into a specific song. Songs can be chosen by either teacher or student, but will have been chosen specifically to push voice and performance to new heights.
Zooming into one section or phrase of the music can help learners pin-point and know exactly where they are improving, and where they need improvement. We will decide on one part of the piece that could use some love, and I will help you find what works best for your voice and your vision.
We will always finish with one last sing through, and provide the opportunity for self recording, so students can keep a personal record of their progress!
Lessons are always open for suggestions, or feel free to sit back, relax, and follow my lead!
