Hello, My name is Troy Haun, and I am currently a Civil Engineering Student. I teach and am proficient in mathematics. I tutor students from middle school to high school in Riverside, CA.

About Troy
In high school, I struggled with organization and often missed homework assignments. I was overly reliant on my test scores, and my grades weren't as good as they could've been because I never put forth the effort. Now that I'm in college, I have a renewed mindset concerning homework and work in general. I understand its importance, and I'd love to help others reach their academic potential because I feel like I never got to reach mine. Like I said prior, I'm in college studying to be an engineer. I finally feel like I've gotten the hang of things, and I truly feel like I'm reaching my potential. I can relate to students who struggle to get their work done, and I can teach them techniques and tools I picked up along the way.

My teaching method is first to do a general overview of the key concepts the student needs help with. Then, we will go over frequently used problems in their homework and on their tests. Lastly, I will go over the examples that are the least commonly used and introduce concepts from the following chapter. In high school, I was always advanced in math and picked up the concepts quickly, which I attribute greatly to my teachers. Using some of their methods combined with ways I learned in addition to study methods the student benefits most from allows for a well-rounded learning experience. Teaching or tutoring a single way doesn't always allow for the student to absorb information in the best way for them personally, so I will do my best to see what works most effectively for the student and modify my tutoring around that. I tutor grades 6-12, with the primary focus of prepping them for college, in addition to helping them stretch their potential and get the grades they never thought they could.
