About Jemima
I am a student at the University of St. Andrews, about to commence my fourth year of study in English Literature and Spanish (MA). I have such a passion for learning, which is reflected in my teaching. I want to inspire students to take control of their own learning journeys, and become confident and independent in their study. I go above and beyond in terms of planning sessions according to their preferred learning style, using schoolwork and the appropriate syllabus/curriculum and marking and returning any homework I might set, whilst maintaining an involvement on behalf of parents too.

I have over 4 years of consistent experience in tutoring 1:1 maths and English, from primary school level to GCSE.
I generally start by discussing with the parent and student what they are looking to achieve through working with me, specifically or in general, and how I can best help them. I would usually look at the level they are working at, and which areas to focus on initially. A few sessions in, I hope to have a strong enough relationship with the child that I can identify what delivery styles are most engaging, and tailor accordingly. I have experience using a range of exam boards for GCSE and thus working with a range of paper styles, so I have expert knowledge of exam technique in both maths and English. The most important thing for me is to establish a strong professional relationship with both student and parent, so that they feel confident in us working together and hopefully make some excellent progress!
