I am Leigha, a dedicated Hebrew tutor, college student, and experienced nanny with a strong background in Jewish studies, including time studying in Israel. As a Hebrew tutor, I focus on a personalized, step-by-step approach that meets each student where they are in their learning journey. I teach using a combination of reading exercises, repetition for fluency, pronunciation guidance, and contextual understanding of prayers and Torah portions. My method balances structure with flexibility, ensuring that students not only learn the material but also feel confident and connected to it.
A typical lesson begins with a review of previously learned Hebrew letters, words, or prayers, followed by new reading practice. We then work on comprehension and Torah or Haftarah portion preparation, using techniques such as breaking passages into manageable sections, practicing chanting rhythms, and reinforcing vocabulary. Lessons often end with a short recap and personalized homework or practice exercises tailored to the student’s pace.
What sets me apart is my combination of formal Jewish studies, high school and Israel study experience, and my ability to teach beginners from the very basics. I create a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters both academic skill and personal confidence, helping students feel proud of their progress as they prepare for this milestone.
