About Hannah
In 2015 I graduated from the University of Reading with a First Class degree in the History of Art and Architecture. I was then awarded a scholarship to study an MA at the internationally renowned School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester. Here I undertook research into pedagogic engagement in art galleries. My research was awarded the Eilean Hooper-Greenhill Prize and was published by leading art journal n.paradoxa. I have studied teaching methodologies, am a qualified TEFL/TESOL tutor and have experience working in schools at various ages, as well as several museums and art galleries. Alongside my work as a tutor, I am the Head of Art at Kempston Academy, a state secondary in Bedford. I have been tutoring for over four years in both History of Art and Art with specialisms covering women artists, British art and Baroque.

I offer lessons and mentoring from 1 - 2 hours at all ages and levels, as well as tailored teaching for Edexcel A-Level History of Art. Depending on your age, existing knowledge and goals, I will offer you a personal learning programme, complete with actions and sessions to achieve your personal goals in History of Art and/or Art Museum, Gallery and Museum Studies. You can expect our sessions to be grounded in theoretical texts with an emphasis on visual material and interactive analysis. I strongly encourage independent work outside of our sessions and am happy to set & mark assignments depending on your commitments. My first lesson is free! For students new to either subject, I offer a 30 minute 'Introduction to Art History' or 'Art', followed by a 15 minute discussion surrounding your goals and desired outcomes, before concluding with an introduction to essential readings and the upcoming programme of lessons. For more experienced students, our first lesson will consist of a 'Critical Evaluation of the Art Historical Canon', followed by an introduction to key readings and texts and an understanding of your goals. Perfect! Hannah is an highly qualified and experienced tutor who made my child feel comfortable and welcomed.
Perfect! Hannah is an extremely competent and conscientious tutor. Her style is approachable, and her course material is very accessible.
I have enrolled on her 20 week Western Canon Programme. This is split into two stages of 10 weeks, with a 2 week break in between. Over this period the student is taught how to look at, contextualise, analyse, and critically appraise art.
During this course period Hannah also offers guided tours of museums such as National Gallery, Tate Britain, et al, for the student to experience the real artwork we have been studying in class.
The consequence of studying this 20 week programme will be that I can visit any museum worldwide and be able to experience a deeper understanding and insight to artwork.View more reviews
