About Patrck
With extensive experience in both academic leadership and student welfare, I believe I would be an exceptionally effective online tutor. As an Assistant Headteacher and Head of Lower School, I have responsibility for the academic progress, wellbeing and pastoral care of over 1,000 pupils and more than 100 staff. This role requires outstanding communication, organisation and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to adapt teaching and support to meet the needs of a wide range of learners.
Academically, I bring significant subject expertise as a teacher and Head of Business and Economics. I have extensive experience delivering high-quality lessons, preparing students for examinations and helping learners to develop confidence, independence and critical thinking skills. My leadership role within the department has also strengthened my ability to design engaging learning experiences and support students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential.
Alongside my academic responsibilities, I also serve as Designated Safeguarding Lead and Mental Health Lead. These positions have developed my ability to build trust with young people, listen carefully, identify barriers to learning and provide support in a calm, professional and compassionate manner. I understand that successful tutoring is not only about academic knowledge, but also about creating a safe, encouraging environment where students feel valued and motivated to succeed.
In addition, my longstanding voluntary and coaching experience, including leadership within HCPT Group 21 since beginning as a volunteer in 2000, as well as coaching football, rugby and Gaelic football, has further strengthened my teamwork, mentoring and motivational skills. These experiences have allowed me to work successfully with children and young people from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of needs and abilities.
Overall, my combination of senior leadership experience, strong academic credentials, safeguarding expertise and commitment to student development makes me highly suited to online tutoring. I am passionate about helping young people grow in confidence, achieve academic success and realise their full potential.

I create a supportive, engaging, and student-centred learning environment where lessons are tailored to each learner’s individual needs, goals, and learning style. My teaching methodology focuses on building confidence alongside subject knowledge, using clear explanations, interactive discussion, practical examples, and regular formative assessment to ensure steady progress. I believe in encouraging independent thinking, resilience, and curiosity while maintaining high expectations and a positive learning atmosphere.
A key part of my approach is the “teach, do, review” methodology. Concepts are first clearly taught and modelled, before students apply their understanding through guided and independent practice. Lessons then conclude with purposeful review and feedback to consolidate learning, address misconceptions, and identify next steps. This structured approach helps students develop both confidence and long-term understanding.
I also ensure learning is relevant and engaging by incorporating current business examples and real-world case studies into lessons, helping students connect theory to practice. Alongside this, lessons are strongly informed by past examination questions, mark schemes, and examiners’ reports to develop exam technique, improve written responses, and give students a clear understanding of what examiners are looking for. This ensures students are not only learning content effectively but are also fully prepared for assessment success.
Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes long, allowing enough time to review prior learning, introduce new concepts, practise skills, and reflect on progress. Sessions are carefully structured to maximise engagement and maintain a pace that suits the learner.
I have over 20 years of experience teaching Business Studies across every key stage level, giving me a strong understanding of curriculum progression, assessment requirements, and effective teaching strategies for a wide range of learners. In addition to classroom teaching, I have also been actively involved in teacher training and mentoring, supporting trainee and early-career teachers in developing their classroom practice, subject knowledge, and confidence as educators.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC Business students from Years 9–13. I tailor each session to the individual learner’s needs, whether they require support with subject knowledge, exam technique, coursework, revision strategies, or confidence-building. Lessons are designed to challenge and motivate students while providing the guidance and structure needed to help them achieve their academic goals.
