About Shaun
Hi, I'm Shaun. Whether you're struggling with a difficult subject, want to review before an important test or just want to deepen your knowledge I'm here to help. I also had a tutor in school and it really helped me out, math was always the subject I had to work extra hard on.
History informs the world we live in, why borders are where they are, why people speak, think and even eat differently. Its our collective memory - and whether we know the history or not it affects our lives every day.
The subject is so vast we divide it into themes, important moments like revolutions or wars where the world rapidly changes in the span of a few years, or specific themes like gender perspectives that look at how the role of women changed over time.
I want to get to know you, see what interests you and makes you think wow I want to learn more about this! Because History isnt a textbook full of dates, its an ocean of mysteries to uncover.

As mentioned I am deeply passionate about history, and challenge the dry way it is conventionally taught. It is important to instill why history is important, linking it to present day to show how we all live in the past's shadow - as well as how learning it can guide our future.
I also give a lot of time for practical skills which are vital to succeed, these include: essay writting, language and structure, histiography, efficient research techniques, exam preparation, and building timelines.
I have tutored half a dozen IB History students before and all have had success! My specialisations are in Russian History, Latin American Revolutions, French Revolution, Cold War (Cuba, Vietnam, Internal Politics), Interwar Period and WW1 Treaties, Authoritarian Regimes (Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Mao).
My lessons typically last 1-1.5h and are for 14 and above students.
