About Lindsey

Hi! I’m Lindsey, a certified elementary educator with over six years of classroom teaching experience and a passion for helping children discover what they’re capable of!

I hold a Master of Education in Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. I also hold a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education (K–6), along with endorsements in Reading and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Throughout my teaching career, I’ve worked with students across kindergarten through fifth grade in both general education classrooms and specialized academic intervention settings. My experience includes teaching third and fourth grade, providing targeted reading and math intervention, and supporting students with a wide range of academic abilities and learning needs.

I have extensive experience with evidence-based literacy instruction, including structured phonics programs such as UFLI Foundations, SIPPS, and Wilson. I’m also passionate about using educational technology and creative instructional approaches to make learning engaging, accessible, and meaningful.

Beyond my professional experience, I’m also a mom to a little girl! Being both an educator and a parent has deepened my appreciation for the trust families place in the people who teach their children.

I believe that great teaching begins with building relationships. I strive to create a supportive, positive learning environment where children feel valued, encouraged, and excited to grow. Every child learns differently, and I believe tutoring should reflect that! My goal is to create a welcoming, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their abilities.

I offer personalized reading, writing, and literacy tutoring for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor each lesson to the student's individual strengths, learning needs, and academic goals.

My lessons may include:

Foundational Reading Skills: Phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, word recognition, and reading fluency.

Reading Comprehension: Vocabulary development, making inferences, identifying main ideas, analyzing characters and themes, and supporting responses with textual evidence.

Writing: Sentence structure, grammar, paragraph development, organization, and written expression.

Spelling & Word Study: Spelling patterns, word structure, morphology, and strategies for understanding unfamiliar words.

Targeted Reading Intervention: Explicit, systematic instruction designed to strengthen foundational literacy skills and address specific learning gaps.

Literacy Enrichment: Engaging, appropriately challenging reading and writing activities for students who are ready to extend their learning beyond grade-level expectations.

I use a combination of informal assessments, evidence-based instructional strategies, interactive activities, and ongoing progress monitoring to guide instruction. My experience with structured literacy programs, including UFLI Foundations, SIPPS, and Wilson, is especially valuable when supporting students who need additional reading instruction.

Above all, I want students to enjoy learning! I incorporate games, meaningful discussions, engaging texts, and interactive digital activities whenever appropriate to keep lessons enjoyable and purposeful.

Whether your child is just beginning to develop foundational reading skills, needs additional support with comprehension or writing, or is ready for more advanced literacy challenges, my goal is to meet them where they are and help them grow as confident, capable readers and writers.
