Katherrin gave an inspirational presentation to all my classes - grades 9-12 at Lewis HS in Springfield, VA, sharing her life story and what she learned from the example of her parents. She realized she was going to have to work hard in life no matter what - her mantra is: “Life is hard. Choose your hard.” Do you want to be washing dishes at a restaurant most of your life, or do you want to put your effort into school, find your passion, and work hard to achieve your highest potential? She transformed mindsets that day, and thanks to her, students of mine who never thought college was a possibility started thinking they could do it because she was right in front of them—a Latina like them who decided to focus despite all odds, won a full scholarship to Harvard, and was making her dreams come true. If she could do it, they could, too. Katherrin is a natural at motivating students, and that’s key to helping them believe in themselves and succeed. I recommend her highly.

Katherrin is one of the smartest people that I know. She was my teaching fellow (TF) for my Intro to Economics class at Harvard. She was able to explain difficult concepts like no other TF at Harvard. Katherrin would take the time to meet with me at office hours and offer extra support with my psets and help me review for my midterm and final exam.
