About Megan
I am a guitar tutor with 11 years of teaching experience and an Associate Degree in Guitar Performance. Alongside teaching, I actively perform in jazz clubs, rock venues, and music festivals, bringing real-world experience directly into my lessons. My students benefit from insights into improvisation, stage presence, and developing a unique musical identity. I focus on helping learners connect technique with expression, whether they are beginners or aspiring gigging musicians. Lessons cover a wide range of styles, including jazz, rock, blues, and contemporary music. I guide students through chord progressions, soloing techniques, and rhythm mastery, while emphasising creative expression. For aspiring performers, I provide mentorship on live performance skills, set preparation, and confidence on stage. Each session is personalised, combining structured exercises with hands-on exploration of repertoire. I encourage students to experiment with their own sound and discover the joy of improvisation. My teaching balances technical skill, musicality, and performance readiness. My guitar lessons focus on helping students develop technical skill, musical creativity, and personal expression. I work with learners at all levels, from beginners to advanced players, tailoring lessons to their goals and interests. We explore a variety of genres, including classical, blues, jazz, rock, and folk, giving students the flexibility to adapt their style. I emphasise strong foundational techniques like finger positioning, strumming patterns, and chord transitions, while also introducing advanced skills such as improvisation and soloing. Creativity is central to my teaching. Students learn to compose their own riffs, explore songwriting, and experiment with different sounds. I provide exercises that strengthen ear training, rhythm, and harmonic understanding, which are essential for confident playing. For those who love acoustic storytelling or expressive blues, I guide them to refine tone, phrasing, and emotional delivery. Lessons are interactive, with practice assignments and performance opportunities to build confidence and musicality. I encourage consistent practice while making learning fun and rewarding. Each student’s progress is tracked, and I provide personalised feedback to ensure improvement. My goal is to help every guitarist discover their own voice, master technique, and enjoy playing in a way that feels natural and expressive.
