About Lia
Hi! I’m a guitar tutor with 9 years of experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, majoring in Guitar. I specialize in teaching beginners and young children, helping them take their very first musical steps with joy and confidence. My lessons are playful, engaging, and filled with fun activities like musical games, storytelling, and rhythm adventures. I believe learning guitar should feel like an exciting journey, not a chore. With patience and plenty of encouragement, I guide each student at their own pace. We focus on strong foundations—like posture, hand position, and simple chords—while keeping things creative and lighthearted. I use songs children love, along with easy exercises that build coordination and listening skills. Through rhythm clapping, movement, and imagination-based games, kids stay curious and motivated. My approach supports early musical development and plants the seeds for lifelong musicianship. I aim to create a space where children feel safe to try, make mistakes, and grow. Every small step is celebrated, and every student’s progress is valued. If your child is ready to begin their guitar adventure, I’d be thrilled to help them get started!

My teaching approach focuses on helping each student find their voice on the guitar, whether they’re learning for personal expression, performance, or leading others through music. I build lessons around strong foundations in technique, while making space for creativity and exploration. We work on skills like chord fluency, lead playing, rhythm accuracy, and ear training.
I guide students in telling musical stories by using dynamic contrast, tension and release, and theme development. These ideas help bring meaning and emotion into their playing. Together, we explore how to shape a song—not just play it. I encourage my students to express feeling through tone, phrasing, and timing, especially in styles like rock, worship, and acoustic genres.
Each session is tailored to the student's goals, whether that means crafting solos that speak or creating solid rhythm for a group setting. I keep the learning environment relaxed but focused, with clear feedback and positive support. We use backing tracks, recording tools, and loopers to practice real-life playing situations. I also show how to build setlists, lead a song confidently, and connect with an audience.
My goal is to help every student grow as a confident, expressive musician—someone who plays not just notes, but stories.
