About Garrett
I’m a guitar tutor with 2 years of teaching experience and a BM in Studio Music and Jazz, specializing as a Guitar Principal. My passion is helping students turn their guitar skills into tools for storytelling in film and video game music. I teach Electric, Acoustic, Classical, and Bass Guitar with a focus on cinematic and immersive sound. Whether you want to craft atmospheric textures, build thematic ideas, or experiment with sound design, I’ll guide you through the process. I also integrate digital audio workstations (DAWs) into lessons so you can bring your musical ideas to life in a production-ready format. My approach is student-centered, meaning I adapt lessons to your goals and interests. Young learners get engaging, hands-on activities, while adults benefit from project-based sessions tailored to their creative visions. I encourage exploration of both traditional guitar techniques and innovative soundscapes. Together, we’ll analyze how guitar can enhance mood, emotion, and pacing in media. I enjoy seeing students discover new ways to connect music with storytelling. Every lesson is designed to help you think like a composer and play like a professional. My guitar teaching approach is built on exploring music in all its forms. We dive into genres like funk, metal, country, jazz, and more, so you can understand what makes each style unique. We’ll break down the building blocks of each genre, from chord voicings to picking patterns. I believe versatility makes you a stronger musician. That’s why I encourage students to step outside their comfort zones. For those with a bold, experimental spirit, we’ll explore unusual tunings and creative arrangements. Recording and self-producing will also be part of the journey for students interested in capturing their sound. Every session blends technical skill with creative exploration. I’m here to guide you toward expressing your unique musical voice. Whether your dream is to headline a band or produce your own tracks, we’ll build the skills to get there. With the right guidance, your guitar can take you anywhere.
