About Richard
I am a passionate and experienced musician with a strong background in both performance and composition. With a Bachelor's degree in Performance (Guitar) from the Australian Institute of Music and degrees in Composition from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, I have had the privilege of working in a wide variety of settings, from composing film scores to performing live.
As a composer and arranger, I have collaborated with some of the most prestigious names in the industry, including Opera Australia and Abbey Road Studios. These experiences have shaped my musical journey and deepened my understanding of the power of music.
What drives me to teach is my genuine passion for sharing this knowledge and experience with others. Teaching allows me to pass on the skills and insights I've gained over the years while helping students find their own unique voice in music. Whether working with children or adults, I approach each student with a holistic, personalised method, ensuring they receive the attention and support they need to thrive.
I am particularly drawn to teaching because of the joy I find in seeing students grow both as musicians and as individuals. My goal is not only to improve their technique but to nurture a love for music that lasts a lifetime. For me, teaching is about creating a supportive, enriching environment where creativity and passion for music can truly flourish.

Looking to master the guitar or take your playing to the next level? With years of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities, I offer personalised guitar lessons tailored to your individual goals and interests, whether you're just starting out or aiming to refine your skills.
I specialise in a broad range of guitar styles, including jazz, rock, country, funk, soul, classical, and more. My background in jazz techniques enables me to help you master building chord harmony, improvisation, and other advanced skills such as learning to play in a band or as a soloist.
My teaching approach is holistic and student-centred, whether working with children or adults, including those with learning difficulties. Every lesson is customised to the student, focusing on creating a supportive and enriching environment where musical growth and creativity can thrive.
