About Maurice
Is your child stuck, with very little idea how to improve their essay writing for English GCSE?
It's not like Maths or Science, where students can write topic tests and give themselves the feedback they need to improve. English GCSE is entirely about essay writing, yet most teachers prefer to talk at students and tell them how they should be writing.
My approach is completely different. I am an experienced tutor with a strong track record in preparing students for AQA English Literature and Language. Rather than just lecturing, my students are constantly writing and using the expert feedback I give them to improve with every plan, paragraph, and essay they produce. It's a completely different style, but I have found it to be the most targeted way to prepare for English GCSE.

My lessons are all about writing. My students are often tired at the end, having been using their brain the whole time to put new ideas into practice and evaluate themselves as they write.
These sessions are not designed for students who want to passively listen to someone explain what they should do.
If you feel this is something your child can handle, it is the ideal way for them to prepare for English GCSE.
