I graduated from the German School in Cape Town and have been a maths tutor since grade 10 for students from grade 5 to 12. I teach in the languages German and English.

About Liv
I started tutoring math because I enjoy seeing others improve and become more comfortable with numbers than they would have felt without my help.
I know motivation is very important, so I encourage my students to keep going and remind them of what they can do, not what they can't do.
Every success, no matter how small, counts! Be it improving from 40% to a 55%, from 75% to a 95%, or even jumping from a 31% to a 83%; my previous students have shown me that I can help them to not only learn the maths formulas off by heart, but also to understand them (and even enjoy it).

The tutoring lessons are a mixture of practice and theory. It is important that the student first understands the "basics" of a math topic, on which one can then easily build more demanding subject areas. This way, the student learns to deal with calculations and complicated questions more confidently without becoming unsettled.
The most important thing to me is that the student learns to feel comfortable and secure in the area of math, which is why I work with repetition a lot at the beginning and make sure to answer all the questions the student has. Much value is also placed on interpersonal relationships in order to escape the typical structure between teacher and student.
My lessons are aimed at everyone who has difficulties in mathematics; for example, someone find it difficult to get into the subject of algebra, up to the derivation and integral calculus in highschool.
