About Sophia
I took numerous workshopping classes with a variety of professors during my undergraduate years. I have witnessed the different ways they each run a workshop and teach their classes; I find this helpful for the way I want to run things in my lessons. I have taken two regular fiction workshop courses, three poetry workshop courses, a special topics course in worldbuilding fantasy fiction, and a general creative writing course. In terms of essay writing, I have taken several literature classes that have significantly helped shape my approach to academic writing.

I will take our first lesson together as a way to get to know you and where you are in the subject, as well as your hopes for the future, to best serve you.
Once I get that information, a typical lesson plan for me would start at the basics as an overview, no matter the level, and then get to know your specific interests of improvement for that subject. For example, if I had someone wishing to improve on imagery for a poem or prose, I would have them as homework or an exercise, go to a favorite place of theirs. While there, describe everything, touching base on all five senses. Then come back and give them to me (at our next session), and then we will go through and pick what is most important for the piece of writing.
My lessons are for high school and college students looking to embrace their creative side, even just a little. Sometimes it is good to go out of your comfort zone because you never know what might come out of it.
