About Ellery
Hi there! I’m a recent graduate with a degree in Mathematics (with honors), and I’m passionate about helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in math. During college, I worked as a math tutor and a department grader, giving me firsthand insight into where students often struggle, and, more importantly, how to help them overcome those challenges. Through those roles, I saw how many students arrive at college without a strong foundation in math. That experience inspired me to start working with middle and high school students, so they can master essential skills early and approach future coursework with confidence and clarity. I bring patience, encouragement, and a deep understanding of the subject to every lesson. My goal isn’t just to help students get the right answer: I want them to understand why the answer is right, and have confidence in their ability to think critically and solve problems independently. Whether you're preparing for a test, trying to catch up, or just looking to deepen your understanding of algebra, geometry, or calculus, I’d love to help.

Hi! I'm Ellery, a passionate and patient math tutor offering personalized lessons for middle and high school students. From algebraic expressions, geometric proofs, and the fundamentals of calculus, I’m here to help you understand the material, not just memorize it. My Teaching Approach I believe that confidence in math comes from understanding the why, not just the how. My lessons go beyond mindless practice: we'll explore the logic behind formulas, the meaning of graphs, and the structure of problems. This builds the deep comprehension needed for long-term success. Teaching Method & Techniques I use analogies and visual models to make abstract concepts click. I tailor each lesson to the student’s pace and learning style, combining explanation, guided practice, and independent problem-solving. In addition to explaining concepts, I regularly ask guiding questions to prompt deeper thinking. A Typical Lesson Check-in & Warm-Up (5–10 min): Review previous material or reinforce a concept with a short question. Concept Deep Dive (15-20 min): Introduce or explore the main topic with examples and discussion. Practice & Application (15-20 min): Work through problems together, then independently with support. Reflection & Wrap-Up (5–10 min): Recap key takeaways and identify areas to focus on next time. What Sets Me Apart Many tutors focus only on performance. My goal is to teach students how to think critically about math and build a solid foundation that will serve them in future classes.
