About Jonathan
I used to struggle with math myself. The jump from primary to secondary school was overwhelming — I found myself trying to memorize formulas without really understanding them. It felt like the only way to keep up, but it was exhausting and frustrating when things didn’t make sense.
That all changed when I moved to Australia and started Year 11 (Form 5 equivalent). I was lucky to have a teacher who made math engaging and helped me see it differently. For the first time, I began to truly understand the why behind the formulas — and that completely transformed the way I approached the subject.
Since then, I’ve been passionate about helping others see that math doesn’t have to be intimidating. I focus on building a solid understanding of the fundamentals rather than just memorizing steps. I also believe strongly in practice — not just doing exercises for the sake of it, but learning the reasoning behind each solution. Getting the answer right is great, but knowing why it’s right is what really matters.
Now, as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer from the University of Western Australia with 3 years of tutoring experience in Perth, I love helping students develop confidence in math — whether they’re catching up or aiming for top marks.

I'm currently a full-time mechanical engineer based in Perth, Australia, with a strong passion for teaching Mathematics. I offer online lessons in General Mathematics and Additional Mathematics for Form 4 and Form 5 students. My previous experience includes tutoring Year 7 (equivalent to Form 1) students in Australia, and I bring both patience and a practical approach to my teaching.
