About Kira

I’m currently completing my Master’s degree in Elementary Education and have dedicated my career to working with children and supporting their growth. I have over three years of experience as a lead preschool teacher and more than ten years working in childcare with students ranging from infants to middle school.

I recently relocated to Austin, Texas, and am excited to continue growing my career in education while supporting students and families in the Austin community.

I have extensive experience creating engaging, individualized lesson plans and supporting a wide range of learning needs. I truly love working with children and helping them feel confident in their abilities. My goal is not only to strengthen academic skills, but to build self-confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and celebrating their progress.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is student-centered, structured, and grounded in research-based instructional practices. I use differentiated teaching strategies to meet each student’s unique learning style, strengths, and areas for growth. I believe that effective tutoring should be both supportive and goal-oriented, helping students build skills while also developing confidence and independence.
I specialize in elementary-level literacy, including phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension. I also provide foundational math support and executive functioning coaching (organization, task initiation, and study skills). My graduate coursework in literacy instruction and educational psychology has prepared me to use evidence-based strategies that are developmentally appropriate and effective.
A typical lesson begins with a brief skill review or warm-up to activate prior knowledge and assess areas of strength and areas that need more support. I then introduce or reinforce a targeted skill using explicit instruction and modeling. Students engage in guided practice with immediate feedback, followed by independent application to build confidence and mastery. Each session ends with reflection and a clear plan for next steps. I continuously monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed.
What sets me apart is my combination of classroom teaching experience and graduate-level training in reading methods and differentiated instruction. I have worked with students both in classroom settings and one-on-one, supporting a wide range of academic needs. I focus not only on improving academic performance but also on building motivation, resilience, and long-term learning habits.
My lessons are designed for Pre-K through 5th grade students, including struggling readers, students needing foundational skill support, and those who benefit from structured academic guidance.
