About Taylor
My name is Taylor and this is my third year of teaching. I graduated high school in 2015 and therefore am still very familiar with study strategies and school pressures! I was an education support teacher from 2018 until 2020, and here developed an interest in teaching. During this job I learnt the true importance of positive relationships between teachers and students, and was very lucky to develop many of my own. I have completed an undergraduate degree, as well as a masters degree so I have had a lot of practice on study strategies and how to attack an exam question! This is my third year of teaching 7-12 science/VCE psychology/VCE biology, and I am absolutely loving it. I am lucky enough to only have small classes so I have the time to help other students who would like additional help outside of school.
Outside of this my hobbies include sport (AFL and netball), art, animals and of course spending time with friends and family. I like to think I'm approachable and friendly and encourage you to reach out any time if you have a question!

During high school I was grateful enough to have my own private tutor in math. Due to large class sizes unfortunately it was difficult for me to get one-on-one help, I also felt really embarrassed at the time to ask questions in fear of looking 'silly'. Math was a subject I could not get, and did not like, however (and although it may sound cliché) having a tutor honestly changed my perspective on math, and actually helped me tremendously. I also gained so much more confidence in the classroom to both ask and answer questions. As a result I can understand the various reasons why students seek to have tutors, and how beneficial they can really be!
Having completed a masters degree in teaching, I have developed a strong philosophy on the kind of teacher I would like to be. Everyone is unique in the way they learn (visually, aurally, hands on, reading/writing) and the key to being a good teacher is understanding how your students learn. I am very flexible in how I teach and I adapt my practice depending on the way that you learn, rather having one 'set' strategy. My lesson plans will be tailored to you and the type of learner you are, and I would work with you to development strategies as well as types of assessment.
The typical length of a lesson would be 60 minutes, however I am open to modifying class time anywhere from half an hour to 2 hours. Perhaps you only needed 15 minutes to go over a question, or you need over an hour to answer that final extended response. I am easy to contact, and always available if you need to ask questions or help.
Currently I teach science at a year 7-12 level. However I can deliver chemistry/physics/biology/earth and space levels from any level (primary) up to year 10. I can also teach biology and psychology at a year 10/VCE level.
