About Jinnie
Hello! My name is Jinnie Semple and I am 23 years old from Toronto, Canada. I have come to Australia as I have always wanted to travel and work here, while also having amazing family in Brisbane. However, since interning at the QUT Micro-Tissue Engineering lab and starting work for AHFP in a Cardiovascular Engineering lab, I have decided and been awarded a scholarship to start my PhD. I graduated with a degree in Bio-mechanical Engineering where I received dean's scholar and did a professional internship. In potential future pursuits of teaching I hope to expand on my current skills through tutoring! I love teaching, sharing knowledge, as well as watching others reach their goals and full potential.

I like to focus on helping my students actually understand the material no matter what pace or method. I usually start by figuring out where things stop making sense, then working through each concept slowly and clearly before jumping into practice problems. I will typically give a general explanation and then adjust accordingly. Lessons are 60 minutes, which gives enough time to review concepts, work through problems, and clear up questions without feeling rushed. I'm a 5th-year bio-mechanical engineering graduate with a strong background in math, physics, chemistry, and biology. I've helped high school students and peers with problem-solving heavy courses and know how to break down tough concepts. I always enjoyed helping my peers throughout high school and university and taking on a teaching/leadership role. In high school, I was a part of the leadership council and in university worked in the engineering lab available for any academic support throughout both. I am mainly interested in tutoring high school students; however, if one was interested in a first-year engineering tutor I would be open to helping out!
